Tensions flared in the Assembly on Thursday as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs created a tumultuous scene, vehemently opposing the suspension of Leader of Opposition Subhendu Adhikari. The disruption unfolded as the House proceedings commenced, with BJP lawmakers showing black flags and raising slogans against the Speaker.
Expressing their dissent, Adhikari and the suspended MLAs initiated a strike within the assembly premises. Eventually, all BJP MLAs left the assembly hall, congregating outside the gate to intensify their protest. Manoj Tigga, representing the party, emphasized that they could not accept the suspension of the BJP leader in the House and, consequently, decided to boycott Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Tigga attributed the suspension to Speaker Biman Banerjee, citing the discontent among BJP MLAs.
